CATHERINE ADAMS
Catherine Adams is a contemporary impressionist painter who works in oils to capture light, form, movement and color—valuing the suggestive over the literal, the conceptual over the concrete.
With a strong background in drawing and composition, her work holds together in the face of free ranging strokes and loosely applied paint.
Catherine has pursued art in one form or another her entire life. She formally studied at the University of Arizona, the Art Students League of New York, and the Art Students League of Denver, where she also worked as an instructor. Over the years she attended art workshops, classes and painting groups both in studio and en plein air.
After a juried application process, Catherine was accepted into the yearlong artist-in-residence program awarded by the Historic Santa Fe Foundation to live, work and display original works at El Zaguán, a historical property located within the Canyon Road Art District in Santa Fe, NM. Later she lived and worked within the Art District on Santa Fe Drive in Denver, CO. Currently Catherine maintains a working art studio within the Art Hive, an art collective located in Prescott, AZ.
